Intermediate II – Computer Scientist/Systems Analyst
  • HS Diploma + 13 relevant years of experience; or
    • BA/BS degree + 5 relevant years of experience
    • Ph. D + 1 relevant year of experience
    • Masters + 3 relevant years of experience
    • AA + 9 relevant years of  experience
  • Familiarity with computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or other appropriate computer science or engineering field
  • Coursework in calculus, linear algebra, and numerical methods
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages such as Python, R, JavaScript, etc.
  • Experience with one or more low-level programming languages such as C, assembly, C++, etc.
  • Experience working with diverse data systems such as binary and delimited file formats, relational databases, non-relational databases, data streams, etc.
  • Familiarity with data visualization practices and development, to include raster/vector image development, 3D model development, OpenGL, etc.
  • Experience using code-versioning systems and standard documentation
  • Familiarity with networking and computer hardware
 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with the design, setup, and administration of databases, including proficiency with PGSQL and PLSQL
  • Coursework in probability and statistics
  • Experience with modern deployment techniques, such as Docker, Kubernetes, containers, etc.
  • Experience using distributed computing systems and cloud-based deployment

Description & Responsibilities

The Intermediate II – Computer Scientist/Systems Analyst will provide data engineering support to federal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in a research role. The position will require the use of Python scripting and other software coding development in support of data analysis and research efforts.

 

Physical requirements for this position

  • Able to sit/stand for 8 hour days in a office environment
  • Able to lift 35-40 pounds
