The Weather Forecaster will provide aviation, ship, and site weather forecasting services, maintaining responsibility for developing forecasts and preparing weather briefings for pilots and interested parties such as outlying camps, field parties, and stations, as well as any ocean vessels operating in the area. This position will require the selected individual to be knowledgeable in all aspects of weather forecasting, including creating weather charts and preparing briefing material, and perform in a supervisor capacity; demonstrating good problem-solving skills while overseeing daily operations, preparing all required reports, and monitoring the weather office for areas as outlined in the task order.
Due to COVID-19, quarantine requirements are possible based on NSF direction and travel restrictions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods; Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to lift 20 lbs or greater.
Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions requiring exposure to extreme cold climate conditions.
