Leadership Team

John
Senior Vice President

John Markey currently serves as Senior Vice President where he oversees operations including  contracts, P&L management, iBiz’s Program Management Office (PMO), and customer satisfaction.   In addition, he serves as a backup to iBiz President, Stephen Murray.  Joining iBiz in July 2012 as a member of the iBiz executive leadership team, John also supports business growth and marketing activities. John has more than 32 years of operations, business development, leadership and strategic planning experience supporting the federal government market.

He supports several federal clients including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Defense (DoD),  including the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC).  John has a proven track record of managing aviation, management and engineering contracts and implementing resources and technology to increase productivity. He has extensive experience supporting the FAA & DoD in the area of financial and performance plans. These plans include budget and forecasting, program/project planning, and cost/scheduling. John’s experience supporting clients with solving their most challenging business problems, as well as a full understanding of clients’ needs, has led him to build long-term relationships in the government arena.

John was also Vice President at CSSI, Inc. where he was key to their growth and expansion from a small to large business.

John holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland.

Diane
Vice President

Diane Reed has more than 15 years of full cycle Human Resources (HR) experience including recruiting, on-boarding, employee relations and retention, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, training, performance management, policy and procedures development, and termination.

Mrs. Reed has been supporting iBiz since April, 2012 and was promoted to Vice President of Human Resources in May, 2020. In this role, Mrs. Reed manages our human resources strategic planning, compliance & regulation, recruiting & retention and contributing to moral and employee outreach. In addition, she manages employee relations and oversees compliance requirements including Healthcare Reform, Affirmative Action Plan (AAP), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS).

Prior to joining iBiz, Mrs. Reed served as an HR consultant at Independent Benefit Services (IBEN) which was acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. During her tenure with the company, Mrs. Reed worked with multiple organizations to provide full cycle HR support across all industries including government contracting and non-profit. She conducted in-depth audits and revamped HR departments to ensure that industry best practices were implemented across all areas of HR.

Mrs. Reed holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Towson University.

Vice President

Michael Hawthorne has more than 30 years of aviation management and policy; organizational analysis and development; concept planning and analysis; and systems development expertise.  Mr. Hawthorne joined DIGITALiBiz (iBiz) as Vice President of Transportation Solutions and Strategies in January 2020. In this role, Mr. Hawthorne is primarily responsible for operations and business development efforts supporting the company’s transportation contracts, particularly programs involving critical Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) NextGen initiatives. His responsibilities include personnel management, contract support, profit/loss, and overall customer satisfaction.

He began his career as an FAA cooperative education student at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic, City, NJ, researching and developing technologies that would eventually become foundational to NextGen and Trajectory Based Operations (TBO).  Building on his early experiences, he relocated to FAA Headquarters in Washington, DC where he played a leadership role in the development and implementation of multiple large-scale, complex programs, including Data Communications, En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM), and System Wide Information Management (SWIM).  He also coordinated the Air Traffic Organization’s (ATO) international activities in the Americas region, served as the ATO’s liaison to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and served as a Senior Advisor in the FAA’s Office of Aviation Policy and Plans.

Mr. Hawthorne holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in Public Administration from The George Washington University, and is a certified Project Management Professional.

Vice President

Daphne McAuley has over 34 years of aviation, program management, business development, and leadership experience. She has managed unique and complex programs for the government and industry through her extensive background in air traffic control (ATC) operations, simulation, innovation, and training services. Mrs. McAuley joined DIGITALiBiz, Inc. (iBiz) in July 2020 as Vice President and oversees business operations including personnel, contracts, and business development activities.

Prior to joining iBiz, Mrs. McAuley was the Program Director at Serco responsible for the company’s Aviation Training programs. She previously worked for Raytheon as a Senior Program Manager on several critical DoD, FAA, and commercial aviation programs including the FAA Air Traffic Control Optimum Training Solution (ATCOTS), Rolls-Royce Flying Testbed, Raytheon Multi-Platform Testbed, and ATC and Maintenance Engineering Operational Support. She has been a member of the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) and the Scholarship Committee for many years and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors.

Mrs. McAuley began her career in the United States Navy serving at various duty locations throughout her twenty-year career. As a Chief Air Traffic Controller, her years of service culminated in instructor and program manager tours at the Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) Pensacola, FL and the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWC TSD) Orlando, FL.

Mrs. McAuley earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Studies from Southern New Hampshire University, a Master of Science Degree in Human Resources Management from Florida International University, and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). In addition, she completed the Contract Manager/Program Management Programme from Oxford University and the Principles of Program Leadership program at Babson College.
