Senior I Scientist/ Engineer/ Systems Analyst
  • BA degree + 8 relevant years of experience
  • Substitutions: Ph. D. + 4 relevant years of experience; Master's + 6 relevant years of experience; AA + 12 relevant years or experience; No degree + 16 relevant years of experience
  • Experience with AIX, Linux, Korn Shell scripting, Bash Shell scripting, Perl, and Python
  • Must be able to develop and maintain Bash script for laboratory maintenance
  • Knowledge of automated documentation and office productivity tools
 

Preferred

  • Experience with FAA projects is preferred, specifically ATOP or ERAM
  • Knowledge of FAA NAS hardware and software systems, including the ERAM and ATOP systems
  • ATOP NAS oceanic experience

Description & Responsibilities

The Senior I Scientist/Engineer/Systems Analyst position will provide engineering support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including senior staff members, providing support to facility users for lab operations and maintenance tasks. Additional responsibilities will include test execution support, development and review of project documentation and simulation, and support for maintenance activities, including backup, restores, hardware problem determination, and resolution.

 

Specific tasks include:

  • Laboratory operation:
    • Support laboratory configuration, initialization, and shutdown
    • Support and utilize online calendar resources
    • Support laboratory for data collection and analysis
    • Support and utilize laboratory automation tools
    • Perform problem solving for National Airspace System (NAS) systems (networking, AIX, Linux)
  • Laboratory maintenance:
    • Develop and maintain Bash script for laboratory maintenance
  • Support for test execution:
    • Develop test procedures for specific automated tests
    • Generate ATOP simulation
    • Manage NAS system SAR data
    • Support NAS simulation generation tools and applications
    • Support NAS infrastructure and networking
